PSG Hollywood Location

PSG HAS ANOTHER LOCATION!

NO WE HAVE NOT MOVED OUR PLANTATION MEETING BUT HAVE ADDED AN ADDITIONAL MEETING ON A SEPARATE NIGHT TO SERVE OUR FAMILIES FURTHER SOUTH AND EAST!

The Broward Homeschool Parent Support Group (PSG) is pleased to announce our newest addition…the Hollywood PSG meetings. This group will meet every third Thursday at Boulevard Bible Chapel from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm. The address is 6800 Pines Blvd. Pembroke Pines, FL 33024.
The PSG has always been a county wide support group and will remain that way. However, we realized that many families on both ends of the county were not able to make the meetings for various reasons. We began praying that God would open doors in the southern and northern ends of the county and He has answered our prayers! It’s exciting to see the hand of the Lord at work. He really does answer prayer!

The first Hollywood meeting will consist of fellowship and your input as a member. If you’re a current PSG member who lives in the area, please feel free to invite other homeschool friends as well. One doesn’t need to be a member of our group to attend the meetings.

PLEASE NOTE: The PSG IS NOT changing locations, just adding an additional one. We will still hold monthly meetings the second Tuesday of each month at Plantation Baptist Church. Joining the PSG is like acquiring a Hopper Pass at Disney. Join the county wide group and attend the location most convenient to you or attend all the meetings…your choice. If you live in the north, we have exciting news coming your way as well in the very near future.

We’re looking forward to hooking up with the Hollywood/Pembroke Pines homeschool families! See you on Thursday, September 16, from 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm. at Boulevard Bible Chapel.

Blessings,

Kelly Fifelski

The 10,000 Hour Rule,” sometimes called “The Ten Year Rule.”

Thomas Edison was fond of saying that genius is 99% perspiration and 1% inspiration, but all of the recent research suggests that “genius” is 1 percent inspiration, 29 percent good instruction, mentoring, and encouragement, and 70 percent perspiration. In other words, geniuses (people who are highly successful at what they do)
are made, not born.

Studies of what makes some children more successful as grownups than others (and considered “geniuses” at what they do) have come up with this rule to predict future achievement.

You can find out what the rule is and how you can make it work for your children here:

Charlotte Mason Study Group

“Education is an Atmosphere, a Discipline, a Life.”

Hello all,

In general we can say that our mission as homeschoolers is to raise noble children who radiate an enthusiasm for learning and life. How can we accomplish this awesome task? One way is to use the “Charlotte Mason Method”. A Charlotte Mason Study Group work towards that end. These informative groups help provide a comfortable forum for people who wish to establish positive relations with each other, as we explore this gentle approach to learning. They are dedicated to providing support for all those seeking to understand and apply Charlotte Mason’s philosophy of education in homes. “Nourish a child daily with loving, right, and noble ideas…which may bear fruit in his life.”–Charlotte Mason (1842-1923)If you are new to homeschooling and know that you need something other than a home version of school, or maybe you’ve been doing a structured school at home and find it isn’t working, Charlotte Mason is where you should start looking or looking anew. Learning about the Charlotte Mason approach will rapidly bring you to the heart of homeschooling.
